April 2016

Special Gallery themed show, Point of View, and the first winner of the International Portfolio Competition

EXHIBITION DATES: April 6 – 30, 2016
OPENING RECEPTION: Tuesday, April 5, 2016, from 6pm to 8pm. Everyone is welcome.

In April, six Soho Photo Gallery artists each bring us to six very different landscapes, without traveling anywhere at all. In this gallery-wide, themed show entitled Point of View, the photographers work in the context of their very different styles to focus on a physical way of looking (through, narrowly, behind, closely, down) rather than on an abstract idea. Their shows all transform our accessible, mundane world into a personal way of seeing.

The people remain frozen in the moment when the camera caught them as they moved about the gallery space. Waves of color filled the camera lens with greens, yellows, reds and purples, leaving trails floating in the air. People are rushing, talking, standing still, sometimes only partially visible. Their movements mirror the rhythm of the lines in front of them. Look through the glass and let your imagination roam among the shadows.
