In April, six Soho Photo Gallery artists each bring us to six very different landscapes, without traveling anywhere at all. In this gallery-wide, themed show entitled Point of View, the photographers work in the context of their very different styles to focus on a physical way of looking (through, narrowly, behind, closely, down) rather than on an abstract idea. Their shows all transform our accessible, mundane world into a personal way of seeing.

Looking Down, began with an idea that if I pointed my camera in a direction where I didn't usually cast my eyes, I might find a whole new world of shapes, images and textures. So I began to point my camera down, and found a lot there, that interested me. I had been doing this for five or six months, when I started wondering if the whole idea was genius or insanity. So I shared the work with a friend and fellow photographer, Larry Davis. Larry encouraged me to help him organize a gallery-wide themed show, in collaboration with other Gallery artists, interested in exploring unique physical directions or ways of looking, with their cameras. We put the word out, and got an amazing response from some very talented people. Thus the Point of View show was born.
