Soho Photo Gallery is pleased to announce its 24th National Competition. The gallery, located in lower Manhattan, is New York City’s longest running co-operative photography gallery. All photo-based works are eligible, with no limitation as to subject matter or technique. All selected photographs will be exhibited at the gallery from July 2-27, 2019.

About the Competition
The juror, Julie Grahame, will choose approximately 40 photographs for the exhibition. Cash prizes for first, second and third place winners will be awarded and up to four Honorable Mentions will be given as well. The photographers chosen, as well as the award winners, will be notified by email on or about May 15. The juror’s selection will also be posted on the Soho Photo website.

Juror
Julie Grahame is the publisher of aCurator.com, a full-screen photography magazine, and the associated aCurator blog, one of the ten best photo sites named by the British Journal of Photography and one of Life.com’s top 20. She has represented the Estate of Yousuf Karsh for licensing for 15 years and maintains Karsh’s online presence. Grahame is a consultant for photographers of all levels; a portfolio reviewer, writer and speaker. She is vice president of the American Photography Archives Group (APAG) and a contributing writer for PDN’s Emerging Photographer and EDU magazines. In a former life, she ran the Retna photo agency.

Submission
Apply to the competition and upload jpg digital images by clicking Enter below. Files must be no larger than 1220 pixels (longest dimension) at 72 dpi. The competition is open to all photographers age 18 years old or older, who are residents of the United States, excluding members of Soho Photo Gallery.

Fees
1-7 images: US$50.00
8-15 images: US$75.00

Prizes
The awards include cash prizes from Soho Photo Gallery for 1st ($300, 2nd ($200), and 3rd place ($100). There will also be a minimum of two Honorable Mentions, and special gifts from our sponsor. The sponsor for this year’s Competition is Archival Methods, Inc.

Winning Photographs
Photographs must be suitably prepared for gallery presentation or will not be accepted. Maximum height or width (including frame) of exhibited work cannot exceed 48 inches. Packing and delivery instructions will be emailed to participants. Printing, mounting and framing of each piece must be gallery quality. Work must wired for handing. Soho Photo Gallery reserves the right to publish winning on our website and social media. Copyright retained by the photographer.

Commission & Insurance
The Gallery’s commission for the sale of prints is 30% Although we will make reasonable efforts to protect your work while it is in our possession, we are not legally responsible for it. Consider insuring your work for the time it is in the gallery.
