In this workshop, each student will create a lovely, hand-made artist’s book for 12 to 16 photographs, by:

  1. selecting the images to print and selecting the paper for images, 
  2. selecting the paper for the book
  3. selecting and creation of the book cover, 
  4. stitch together the cover and pages,
  5. ordering of images,
  6. tipping of images into the book,
  7. admire the finished product.

We will explore the different kinds of papers, resources for locating interesting papers, and three different ways for binding the finished book.

Session 1:

  1. examine a variety of hand-made books and materials,
  2. share a body of work to be made into a book,
  3. creation of the cover.

Session 2:

  1. sequencing of images and feedback from others,
  2. selection of paper options for book,
  3. tip in the images,
  4. binding the book,
  5. sharing final product for discussion.

Following Session 1, students will work independently to print out selected images as discussed and in preparation for Session 2.
