The encaustic process has been in use by artists since early Egyptian times. The process involves a blend of beeswax and resin, heated to a liquid state, and applied to a receptor surface. In this one day intensive workshop you will explore basic techniques, safety, and creative effects, using your imagery as a starting point. Because of the tactile quality imparted to photographs, many contemporary photographers are using this alternative process for their fine-art.

We begin by reviewing your images and preparing your files for transfer onto boards. The fun continues with the application of wax, pigments, and textures. Individual coaching will be given throughout the day and you will leave with several completed encaustic pieces.

We provide snacks, refreshments and lunch. All encaustic materials will be provided. No previous experience is needed for this class. A complete materials list will be sent to you after registration.
