Curator Statement by Linda Sandow
As I looked thru many incredible yet horrifying images, I reflected on what was, what
happened that day and all the days after. I spent 17 years working and experiencing life in
the World Trade Center Complex. It took me more than a decade to get past what I saw
that day and after. Things shifted in a way we hoped we would never see but we came to
accept our new circumstances.
This exhibition is a glimpse into what happened that day and the days after. It is a tribute
to the people of the FDNY, NYPD and other units who served. They were and are our
heroes. They moved us forward in the midst of the incomprehensible and the hysteria.
And we so appreciate the FDNY and NYPD people who made these images in the midst
of chaos and tragedy.
We celebrate our heroes with this exhibition of what they did.
