Recent New York City architectural additions, The Oculus, Hudson Yards and the Moynihan Train Station became an opportunity to continue a long term project of presenting simple things simply. To quote Mies Van Der Rohe “an interesting plainness is the most difficult and precious thing to achieve.” No attempt is made to depict the object as it naturally appears. The goal is to create a new object that did not exist before. The photograph itself becomes the object without regard to the subject matter. To quote Rene Magritte “this is not a pipe.”
