These photographs have much in common with those in “Altered States”: jagged lines, pulsing energy, dreamy wooziness. Except here, space is altered. Some pictures lay claim to otherworldliness—an altered state. And some aspire to glimpses or hints of a state both photographers—a psychologist interested in mystical experiences reported in psychedelic-therapy research and an American habitué of India—call spiritual: a state where boundaries dissolve, all is connected, and photographer and place are one. Postcards from Eden.
Welcome to Paradise.
