2021 Alternative Processes First Place Winner

Soho Photo Gallery is pleased to announce the 18th International Alternative Processes Competition. Located in lower Manhattan, SPG is New York City’s longest running co-operative photography gallery. All selected photographs will be exhibited at the Gallery as well as on our website. The opening reception is Thursday, November 17th from 6 to 8 pm
What are Alternative Processes?
Alternative processes include, but are not limited to: Albumen, Cyanotype, Van Dyke Brown, Platinum/ Palladium, Gum Bichromate, Bromoil, Salt Print, Tintype, Ziatype, Daguerreotype, Image Transfers, Liquid Emulsion, Chemigram, Photogravure as well as handmade prints created from digital negatives. Traditional Silver Gelatin Prints, C-Prints and Digital Prints are not eligible. There is no limitation as to subject matter.
Juror
Ann Jastrab is Executive Director at the Center for Photographic Art in Carmel, California. She was formerly gallery manager at Scott Nichols Gallery and gallery director at Rayko Photo Center, both in San Francisco. She juried Rayko’s famed International Plastic Camera show for ten years. Ann has juried, curated and organized Exhibitions nationally and internationally. She is a fine art photographer, a master darkroom printer and teacher.
Submission
Digital entries must be uploaded at callforentry.org where you will find instructions for submissions. The competition is open to all photographers age 18 years old or older, excluding members of Soho Photo Gallery.
Fees
US $45.00 (1-5 images)
US $5.00 for each additional image (up to 15 images)
Prizes
First Place: Workshop at Pnumbra
Second Place: $200
Third Place: $100
Winning Photographs
Winning Photographs will be exhibited at Soho Photo Gallery.
Commission and Insurance
The Gallery’s commission for the sale of prints during the exhibition is 30%.
