This is a selection of 20 images shot on my morning walks, primarily in the East Village where I live. They were originally posted on my Instagram feed, 2015 to the present. Most of my Instagram shots are of objects, spills, and other things found on the street. This selection are images are categorized by their graphic nature and round shape. They are all presented in plan view (straight down). I’ve paired them as having something in common with their partner. I’ve also presented them in groupings of 4, 2, and 3.

Most of the subjects in my various “looking down” series are ephemeral in nature… that what I am shooting will likely be gone or changed at any moment. I enjoy the element of chance in my work; I never know what I will find. To me, no subject is out of bounds; what might be considered trash to others is for me an opportunity for beauty and self-expression.
