Rosalie Frost, Radiance (Ellis Island)

Wandering through Ellis Island’s decayed hospital corridors and rooms, light could be shout-out-loud with a dazzling brightness — or a fugitive light whose source is often indeterminate and conceals rather than reveals. Light as a character in an unfinished play, in a theatre where the actors (patients/staff) have just left the stage but the curtain hasn’t yet come down. Though the only permanent inhabitants may be ghosts, our presence may cause them to live again, if briefly, in these images created in the available light.
