Goblin Valley, Utah

Mudstone, sandstone, and siltstone deposits were laid down here 170 million years ago by a vast inland sea. After the sea retreated, Goblin Valley’s unique geologic features were sculpted by forces of wind and water over millions of years as the softer sedimentary rock was eroded away, leaving the core of harder rock still standing. For the photographs presented here, I used a fisheye lens and got up really close for a different perspective on this alien-looking landscape.
