Soho Photo reviewers are photography professionals from the fields of education, publishing, curating, art exhibitions and non-profit art collectives.

​Patricia Beary is a distinguished fine art photographer and art educator. Holding a BFA from Long Island University, Patricia’s expertise in a variety of art disciplines is evident in her painterly and abstract approach to photography. Her innovative techniques involve a blend of camera work, post-processing, and contemporary alternative processes, allowing her to deconstruct and reinterpret images rather than merely represent. Patricia's international presence is notable, with exhibitions in the US, Italy, Spain, and Japan. Her work has been featured in prestigious publications such as Lenswork’s Magnificent Planet, 2021 and All About Photo Magazine: Shadows, March 2023.

Audrey S. Bernstein received her B.F.A. from Cornell University and her M.F.A. from Visual Studies Workshop in Rochester, New York. She has been teaching for the past twenty years at universities such as Long Island University, International Center of Photography, St. John’s University and Hofstra University. She is the recipient of two New York State Foundation for the Arts Fellowships; one in 1991 and one in 1987.  Audrey S. Bernstein’s photography has been on the cover of Time Magazine as well as numerous other magazines.  She has had three exhibitions at Soho Photo Gallery in New York City.  

Sandra Carrion is a visionary photographer celebrated for her inventive and artistic approach to capturing the world. With a keen eye for both traditional and modern techniques, Sandra excels in unveiling the hidden beauty in everyday scenes, constantly reinventing her perspective to reveal the extraordinary within the ordinary. As the former director of Soho Photo Gallery, Sandra has made significant contributions to the photography community. She is the founder of the acclaimed International Krappy Kamera Competition and Exhibition, a yearly event that celebrates unconventional photographic techniques. Additionally, she is a co-founder of fotofoto Gallery in Huntington and the Image Factory Experimental Photography Workshops. 

Laura Dodson received her MFA in Photography from Pratt Institute. She teaches Digital Photography at CUNY Queens College and is a reviewer for LensCulture.com. She is an award winning photographer who exhibits her art internationally. Her images challenge traditional ways of seeing by becoming stages where observation gives way to experimentation. She begins with a camera and ends with a fictional narrative. She is represented by Alex Ferrone Gallery

Kristin Holcomb is an artist and educator. She received her BA from Cornell University and her MFA from Pratt Institute. She teaches at the International Center of Photography. She taught and advised at New York University from 1984 to 2014. Holcomb worked for many years as a travel photographer. Her photographs appeared in numerous publications including theChicago Sun Times, The International Herald Tribune, International Investor Magazine, Landmarks of New York III and Newsday.  Her photographs, which use cues from the visual world to explore the subconscious and psyche, have been exhibited both nationally and internationally and are in many individual collections. Holcomb's recent exhibitions include Chimera, Boundaries, In the Silences: A Retrospective in New York, and Drawing: An Intimate Record, at the International Fine Arts Festival Kranj, Slovinia.

Chris Maliwat is a street-portrait photographer based in Brooklyn, New York. His first monograph, Subwaygram, published by Daylight Books, documents the resilience and shared humanity of New York City subway riders before and after the pandemic. Through candid, unposed portraits, Maliwat reveals the spectrum between self-consciousness and unselfconsciousness in public spaces. He has studied photography at Stanford University and the International Center of Photography, with his work featured in The Guardian, Lenscratch, and L’Œil de la Photographie.

Randy Matusow received her BFA from Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA from Brooklyn College. Her documentary style focuses on emotional conflict. From her portraits of Mothers and Daughters to her recent diptychs of landscapes paired with family photos, Randy unwraps the complexities of relationships. Matusow is widely exhibited. Her photographs are in the permanent collection at The Brooklyn Museum, and numerous private collections. She was a Fulbright finalist and is the recipient of the Women’s Research and Development Fund Grant from The City University of New York. Her photographs have been published in Aperture Magazine, The Family of Women, and Amherst Review.

JoAnne Seador received her BFA from the School of Visual Arts and her MA from NYU/ICP. She teaches at the School of Visual Arts and Nassau Community College. She has served as co-director of Pulse Art Gallery in New York City and as Editor and Director of the Photo Library at Magnum Photos.

Rooted in a lifelong attentiveness to fleeting moments, JoAnne’s work has gradually shifted from a documentary sensibility toward a more expressive and atmospheric language. Color plays a central role in her work, functioning as an emotional register through which memory, mood, and perception unfold. Her images linger between observation and introspection, inviting viewers into spaces shaped as much by feeling as by sight.
