The Soho Photo Gallery internship program offers a unique opportunity get involved with New York City’s longest operating member-run photography gallery.

As an intern, you’ll get hands-on exposure to a number of gallery activities and programs as well as have unparalleled access to member photographers with varied creative processes and perspectives. It’s a great way to immerse yourself in the operation of a leading photography gallery and get real world experience. Interns come to us from a variety of backgrounds. Some are still in college (and may qualify for school credit); some have already graduated.

We’ll tailor a schedule to best suit individual circumstances and schedule. We are delighted to benefit from your energy, enthusiasm and abilities. You’ll benefit by having access to different aspects of gallery management – both artistic and administrative:

  • Attend monthly openings and other gallery events
  • Gain a sense of what it takes to prepare images for exhibition – you’ll be able to participate in our monthly portfolio reviews where current members submit images for exhibition and prospective members apply for admission to the gallery
  • Attend and take part in our monthly salons where members share work in progress
  • Obtain valuable skills in the steps required to create an exhibition by assisting Soho Photo members in show installations
  • Participate in managing our public competitions
  • Assist in enhancing the gallery’s social media presence
  • Help maintain the gallery premises
